His band Jamie's Brother, released several original songs in the late 90s and rose to fame in Arizona with the song written by Jeff entitled "Drive". Jamie's Brother performed on "Good Morning Arizona" and opened for Crosby, Stills and Nash in Mesa to a packed crowd at the Mesa Amphitheater! The Roxy & Mesa Amphitheatre LIVE Performances:
John Laroe - Lead Guitar
One of the top lead rock guitarists in the Midwest, John has played in a variety of professional working bands over the years including Southern Comfort (classic rock), Full Circle (70s & 80s hard rock & metal), Renegade (southern rock), Figure 8 (hard rock) and most recently with Head First in September 2023 at their 40-year tribute to two founding members who have passed. John's main guitar influences are Les Paul slingers such as Zakk Wylde, Slash, John Sykes, Jimmy Page, Warrent Haynes, etc. Kirk Hammett & Angus Young were also huge influences on him as he was learning to play. Some of his favorite bands are AC/DC, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Guns n' Roses, Metallica, the Black Crowes, the Allman Brothers, Skynyrd, Zeppelin, Gov't Mule, and many more. Check out some of John's great guitar playing on YouTube. Don't miss John's rockin' guitar riffs and solos at the Virginia Theatre!
Dawna Nelson - Lead & BVs
One of Champaign-Urbana's best loved lead vocalists, Dawna has been mesmerizing audiences across the Midwest for practically her entire life. Establishing her music career as the key ingredient of local country iconic band Gator Alley - a family-based showcase for her stellar vocals - Dawna grew up on the stage. She is currently one of the area's most sought after blues and rock performers and has lent her talents to The Brat Pack, G. Lee & Jet Blonde and blues-bruisers The Impalas. Dawna brings power and passion to the mic with class and style. Have a listen here to Dawna showing off those pipes! We're excited Dawna will be joining us on stage for the Virginia Theatre event!
